“Naples Municipal Airport is a hidden gem in the heart of the Paradise Coast as it offers close access to the downtown area and beachfront resorts, plus the ease and convenience of flying into a smaller regional airport,” said John Pearsall, President of Elite Airways. “We are thrilled to provide non-stop and direct flights to New York City and Portland Maine, and we thank airport and community leaders for their support and assistance to help us introduce this new service.”
“The reintroduction of commercial aviation service to Naples Airport is welcome news for year-round residents of the area, and for those who spend their winters here escaping the cold,” said Naples Airport Authority Executive Director Ted Soliday. “From a tourism perspective, we look forward to welcoming vacationers and business travelers seeking the convenience of flying directly into Naples—and Elite Airways is the ideal airline partner to help make this possible.”
Paradise Coast Enjoys Record Growth in Tourism
The Paradise Coast has experienced revitalized tourism in the last five years, with record-breaking growth and a reported $1.8 billion in economic impact from tourism. The area, boasting some of the country’s Top 10 Beaches and the “Ten Thousand Islands Area,” is not in close proximity to major airports. Most airports are nearly a 1-2 hour drive away—versus Naples Municipal Airport, which is located within minutes of downtown Naples and oceanfront resorts.
A 2015 telephone survey commissioned by the City of Naples Airport Authority showed 78% support from city and county residents to reintroduce commercial passenger airline service to Naples Municipal Airport, which has not been present there since 2007. The airport is home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, as well as fire and rescue services. Naples Municipal Airport operates as a general aviation airport but complies with the standards of Federal Aviation Regulations, Part 139, maintaining the same level of security as commercial-service airports adhering to all TSA directives.
