Elite Airways Announces December 18th Inaugural Flight from Orlando Melbourne International Airport to Portland Jet Center in Maine
Also announces partnership with Make-A-Wish Maine to donate flights to wish families
PORTLAND, ME – December 16, 2015 – Elite Airways LLC announces the inaugural flights for scheduled non-stop service between Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) and the Portland International Jetport (PWM) will take place this Friday, December 18th. The company is also announcing a partnership with Make-A-Wish® Maine to donate flights to special families who wish to visit Orlando theme parks or go and swim with the dolphins.
Celebrations are planned at both airports on Friday the 18th, along with a ribbon cutting in Portland at 1:15 p.m. at Gate 4, led by a very special Make-A-Wish family.
These flights mark the start of new scheduled non-stop service between PWM and MLB on Mondays and Fridays, with starting fares as low as $149 and $199 each way at EliteAirways.com. In the first few weeks of ticket sales, several flights between PWM and MLB sold out, prompting Elite Airways to add more flights to accommodate high-demand times. Non-stop service allows families to plan a weekend getaway or weeklong vacation with confidence, especially in the winter months.
“Today’s inaugural flight to Florida is a fitting day to announce our partnership with Make-A-Wish Maine, as so many families want to visit Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and nearby beaches for their special travel wish,” said John Pearsall, President of Elite Airways. “As a Maine-based business, we are especially pleased to give back to the community and are honored to help support Make-A-Wish in its one-of-a-kind mission.”
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. As of December 2015, the organization has granted more than 1,200 wishes to seriously ill Maine children. The Maine chapter has over 200 volunteers statewide and a staff of seven. Today’s announcement underscores Elite Airways’ partnership and ongoing commitment to help donate available seats to Make-A-Wish Maine families that wish to visit central Florida theme parks, attractions and nearby beaches.
“Airfare is our single largest ‘wish’ expense,” said Sonya Purington of Make-A-Wish Maine. “That’s why this partnership with Elite Airways, a local Maine air carrier, is so important and deeply appreciated as it helps us potentially serve even more families and bring hope and joy to very special children in need.”
Portland International Jetport
As Maine’s largest airport, the Portland Jetport is surprisingly compact and close to town. It occupies less than 1,000 acres and is just five miles from the heart of downtown Portland. A comfortable scale, unmatched convenience, and the addition of several new airlines have made PWM one of the fastest-growing airports in New England over the past three years. “We value Elite Airways’ presence at the Portland Jetport, and are thrilled for the start of this new service to the Orlando, Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach areas,” said Portland Jetport Director, Paul Bradbury. “Florida is our largest under-served market from Portland. Elite Airways gives travelers even more vacation options with non-stop flights to MLB just in time for the holidays and winter break.”
